16 – 17 May 2014
Dear All,
The Oxford Migration Studies Society will be hosting the second annual Migration Studies Conference on the 16th and 17th May 2014.
The theme for this year, ‘Changing Global Realities: Migration, Movements and Social Transformation’, is centered on the questions: What is the role of migration in generating major social change? And how does this in turn impact migration processes?
Drawing on recent socio-political events around the world, this conference will focus on the role of migration in initiating, supporting, or constraining social transformations. The conference will facilitate regionally specific paper presentation workshops in order to examine events such as the large-scale demonstrations in Brazil and Turkey, the Arab up-risings, forced evictions and dislocations in Thailand. This student-led conference would like to invite students and academics to engage with this theme in an interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary manner.
